Summer, Sun, Fun… and Recovery

Now I’m in recovery from alcoholism and drug use. When I look back, all my activities in summer were paired with a high consumption of alcoholic beverages. It didn’t matter if it was the Ouzo in Greece, the Rum in Grenada, Raki in Turkey, Limoncello in Italy, wine in France… I was in the front row when alcohol was there.

Circling the Drain of Alcoholism

I circled the drain for a long time. I was 42 years old when I finally found my way out. It was a last-minute rescue before my health conditions got so bad that the overwhelming fear of dying put that stopper into the drain and saved me. My poor health finally gave me the motivation to enter treatment.
