This race is a unique run/walk presented by Talbott Recovery and Foundations Atlanta, an outpatient treatment center of Foundations Recovery Network.

Foundations Recovery Network’s mission is to be the leader in evidence-based, integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through clinical services, education and research.

The Heroes in Recovery movement started because, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 20 million people needed substance abuse treatment last year and did not receive it. About 10 million Americans did not receive needed mental healthcare. The stigma associated with substance abuse and mental health disorders creates a significant barrier to individuals and families seeking help. It takes a heroic effort to live clean and sober each day, and Heroes celebrates that effort. The sixth kilometer separates a Heroes 6K race from a typical 5K to symbolize the extra effort it takes to sustain recovery. The six kilometers also represent the six letters in the word HEROES. Our 6K (3.728 mile) course winds through Brook Run Park of Dunwoody, GA. These races inspire communities to support recovery, and they also encourage people to live healthy, active lifestyles.

Each registered participant will receive:

  • A finisher’s medal upon crossing the finish line!
  • Heroes 6K race shirt
  • Souvenir bib
  • Re-usable 6K bag
  • Post race nutrition

Join the movement. Run the race. Break the stigma!

Heroes in Recovery is honored to support Right Side Up  which offers long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment for women with dependent children under the age of 13. Women need a safe, structured environment to develop the skills necessary to achieve lasting recovery. RSU’s services are designed to help clients obtain employment, restore relationships with their loved ones, retain and/or regain custody of their children, give birth to drug-free infants and become valuable, productive members of the community. MARR continues to set the standard in long-term, gender-specific addiction treatment for chemically dependent men and women. Dedicated staff members are committed to bringing each client lifelong recovery through intensive, high-quality programs that are centered on the therapeutic community model. Course cut off time for the finish is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
