Update on Kalamazoo Heroes 6K
An update to our dedicated stigma breakers,
We are sad to say that the Kalamazoo Heroes 6K on September 23 will be cancelled and not be taking place this year. We unfortunately will not be able to pull together the appropriate resources needed to make an event all of our participants deserve. We recognize how important this event is to the community and the importance of raising awareness for the addiction and mental health community in Kalamazoo.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused once again during the change of events. We appreciate all of the love and support from the Heroes community and hope you will follow along on our journey as we plan for a better 2019. The Heroes mission has always been about bringing together a community to support the local communities and break the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health issues. It is our intention to continue spreading this mission as we move forward.
We will be issuing refunds to registered participants. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions or concerns you may have. Email: [email protected]

The 2018 Charity Beneficiary
Recovery Institute of Southwest Michigan is a peer-run nonprofit service organization. They are a community of survivors who use their own experiences of addiction, mental illness and ongoing recovery to help others find their own recovery. Recovery Institute offers a multitude of services to empower people, build recovery skills and show the wider community that recovery happens. They aim to give hope where there is little or no hope. RI believes that recovery is not merely a matter of surviving one’s illness, but a dynamic movement that brings about a meaningful change in lifestyle and habits. Members of their PoWeR Group share their recovery stories with students, community organizations, hospitals and other civic groups across southwest Michigan to foster hope and reduce stigma about mental illness and addiction.
Please consider making a donation in any amount or becoming a fundraising participant to help spread our mission for the recovery community.
