- Mental Health
When I was 23 years old, I was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and it changed my life forever. Before my diagnosis I kept moving around and quitting jobs and was paranoid of everyone I came in contact with. All the movies were about me. Everything just wasn’t making any sense. In 2007 I started getting help. A mental health treatment program helped me get stable on my meds, and I started to find hope for my future of living with a mental illness. I learned to always take my medication and to have a good support system.
Today I work as a peer support specialist in my community. I have great friends, most whom have had similar challenges as me.
