Noah benShea’s Story

We often say that charity begins at home. To most of us that means that means giving financially first to those closest. But the root of the word “charity” is “caritas” in Latin, and it means love.

And if charity begins at home, that also means loving those closest to us. And while that can mean our family and friends, it also means having the courage to love ourselves, particularly when we feel broken, busted, or simply fractured in some way.

And our ability to love others is premised on our ability to love ourselves. Jacob lied to his father. Stole from his brother. And ran for his life. But he did not run from his life. And when he saw Rachel, he lifted up his eyes and he wept.

Finding the love of your life begins with having love in your life, having love for yourself.

Don’t confuse falling with failing.

Charity begins at home. Bring your love home. Knock on your door with an open heart. Answer the door. Open your heart’s door. And embrace yourself.

Welcome your hero home.
