Every now and then we get reminded of the struggles and problems we had as addicts– even as we do something as simple as helping out a neighbor, who even makes more money than us! (LOL) As we let another person take a shower, or let that person wash some clothes or give him or her a meal because of addictions and problems that person has. Even if that person had utilities shut off or something else because of addiction, we see just how far we have really come. Or the homeless guy we have staying with us waiting for his SSI. I am even going to be his payee now. Or my father-in-law that lives with us and we take care of.
I once had my story published here and it’s now been over 8-1/2 years as a recovering addict and even though it gets hard and frustrating at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Addictions don’t make someone a bad person, just a person with a problem who needs a little help to overcome.
