Dustin grew up in Muhlenberg county in Kentucky. He started his journey with the use of alcohol but at age 15, reached a point where he started using meth regularly. This led to many years of problems. Eventually, he got divorced because of the drugs, hegot in trouble with the law and he got into trouble with his family.
At age 30, he recognized that his life could not go on as it was and he has to do something different. He was seeking a true change of his lifestyle and it led him to enter a recovery center in Paducah, Kentucky. It is a long term treatment center and Dustin has already attended it for six months and proud of his time of sobriety. The biggest positive change in his life was his willingness to better himself and to do whatever it takes to make better choices. Getting clean and sober was the start of a new life for him. He loves to spend time with other fellow guys in recovery to see who is in it to win it.
Today he would like to tell people new to recovery that they are not alone. They are not the only ones struggling at times, not the only ones who have problems, and not alone in staying sober. Recovery can be done together by supporting each other and someone has been in the same position that you are facing right now. Dustin felt his life and recovery got better in the moment as he let God be in control and stopped trying to do the things in life only as he wishes and wants. Dustin goes to 12-step meetings almost every day and loves to help others who are new to the program or new into the center. He has lots of dreams for his future life and he knows that they will become truth if he continue to do the next right thing.
