Hi, my name is Wendy, and I am proud to say that I have been in recovery for 10 years! My life was a complete mess ten years ago. I was an addict for a long time. Nothing mattered but the drugs. At my lowest point, I was so desperate to pay for them that I actually sold my body to get the money. My life seemed so meaningless and hopeless. At that point, I was so desperate that I decided I had to take action. I was so tired, so despondent, and had zero self-esteem.
I went to rehab and also found a 12-step program. The program has saved my life. I have learned to trust the process. I have learned that you cannot let your guard down. Meetings are a must on a regular basis. The support is what keeps me going. I learned that I needed to be honest…with myself and with everyone else. I have learned to stay in my lane, and I think that is great advice I’d like to share with others. Don’t worry about anyone else’s business and don’t worry about what others think of your business…just stay in your own lane! Focus, follow the program, and never give up.
Yes, I still struggle sometimes and need the support of my 12-step fellowship. We all have stress in our lives, and mine is no different. When I feel overwhelmed, I remember to put it in God’s hands. Jesus, take the wheel. He never lets me down. My life is so much better now! I am happy! I am working really hard on achieving some personal dreams, and I have no doubt that I will achieve them. You can too. Please believe me, life in recovery is amazing!! Do it, take that first step. You’ll be glad you did.
