Natalie has been on her journey of recovery for 92 days so far. She is making positive changes by working on trust. She is trying to get the trust of her family back, her trust in herself and her trust in a job and in others.
Three month ago drugs and alcohol had taken over her young life. She could no longer function in the world. Her family turned away from her. She had almost no support from friends and lived on a friend’s front porch for a year until she decided to change things.
Today Natalie knows that she can’t drink and drug and live a successful life at the same time. She is so proud of having a job, of being trusted by an employer and that she can communicate with her family again. She is still fighting cravings to use, and one big struggle for her is to see a close friend in recovery to relapse, but she overcome this struggles by going to meetings, reaching out for help and communicating with peers.
She is so happy and grateful for every day that she is able to get up and function. She loves to stay in the moment and enjoy the day. “If I can do it, anyone can!” Natalie says. She admits that getting clean and sober is a struggle, but it’s not harder than the struggle she was fighting in her active addiction.
