I went from living in a beautiful home with my wife and kids to living in my car and in empty garages. I was using against my will on a daily basis. I was addicted for years until I found a support group in July 2014.
I learned I couldn’t beat addiction alone. If you are like me, once you take one drink, pill, line of cocaine, or any other mind-altering substance you just can’t stop and stay stopped. There is help. I found it through my support group and by going through the 12 steps.
Because of recovery, life today is unrecognizable from what it once was. I live without the fear of waking up every morning wishing I was dead. I went from living with the constant fear and terror of addiction to being totally free, totally alive. I wake up looking forward to the day, to what I can achieve and to helping others recover from addiction. I try my best to show other addicts how to recover as I have been shown.
I’m an addict in recovery. I’m free from the misery and terror of addiction. I went from using against my will for two decades to being over a year clean and sober and more importantly to being happy. I hope this helps someone.
