I have come from an abusive childhood, spent from the age of 15 to 37 in the disease of alcoholism and substance addiction. During that time period, I spent several years in prison. Upon my last release from incarceration and final release from addiction, I entered this new world of sobriety. I was homeless, not employable, and had an eighth grade education.
Now well into my 18th year of recovery, I can truthfully say that I have achieved this life that I never could have imagined. I currently have 5 college degrees, a home, and work in the healthcare community specializing in mental illness. I have also started a small business called Coordinating & Assisting Recovery Environments (CARE) and my primary focused is to help those who have substance use and mental illness.
My passion is giving to the community as it has been given to me and with God’s grace, I have come upon www.heroesinrecovery.com to share my small story. My hopes is that everyone who knows my complete story will see that you are important and with time, work, and perseverance, you can become a shining star within this universe.
