By working in the addiction and mental health field, even on the business side of it all, I’ve seen so much that can break your heart and even more that will make you cry tears of joy.
So many stories that have been posted on the Heroes in Recovery site have touched me. It is amazing how many people have gone through such horrific circumstances and have not only come out alive, but are thriving in recovery and are so successful in life.
When I read all of these amazing stories, regardless of whether or not I’ve struggled with the same thing, they make me look at my life and how I’m living. What is my excuse? How can I complain and want to give up when so many others have faced roadblocks much more difficult than mine and prevailed?
The world is always going to be tough and harsh and there will always be people who want to drag you down for no other reason than to take you with them. But don’t be discouraged! I also know that, no matter what you’re going through, there are people who want to help and are waiting to help.
No matter how low you feel your life has gone, you are important. So don’t give up! No matter what you’ve done, no matter how ashamed you may feel, and no matter how much you feel that you don’t deserve to live, there is always a second chance! You can turn your life around to become one of these success stories! Take the first step and ask for help. I hope to be able to read your story soon!
