My name is Dennis and I turned 65 this week. I left Eugene for five years. As I came back all friends moved. I hung out at Island Park and got involved in dope for 12 years. It was not fun anymore, but everyone I knew did not feel that way. I changed faces and places for a year but all my friends wanted to get me high, so I moved to Portland, it was the best move I ever made.
I went through drug and alcohol treatment so many times and it did not work, but when I was ready I used what I had learned. I was not told by court to quit drugs, I wanted it myself.
What helped me on the way were the consequences, I was willing to pay them. I am today three years clean and it gets better every day. Thank you for letting me share.
