Adam is currently in long-term treatment in Paducah, KY. He started his addiction at the age of 16 and is really proud of his new life that is clean and sober. In his past he always went in and out of jails. He was getting really tired of doing this, but didn’t know a way out of this bad cycle of addiction and incarceration. Then he was sent by a judge to long-term treatment and accepted the challenge. He is very happy today about this decision and has learned a lot about living his new life.
“Honesty is the key to recovery,” he says. For most of his life, that was not the case, but today he lives honestly with others and himself. He is grateful that he was sent to treatment and is looking forward to spending his future in a different way. Adam has not yet set any goals or pursued any of his bigger dreams; his focus is still on his sobriety as a priority in his life. But he knows that he won’t go back to where he came from. He wants to stay away from old friends and old places and start his life new. If someone is still in active addiction, he likes to ask him to give recovery a try. “You will be surprised of the outcome,” he says.
