I was a crystal meth addict for over ten years. I had been to several rehabs and 12-step meetings with no success. I just couldn’t figure out how to stop. One day I was very anxious and decided to take 100mg of Zoloft.
When I took the 100mg of Zoloft I was able to sleep through the night and when I woke up I felt so good that I threw the drugs I had away. I have never looked back since. Now I really enjoy my life. I’m doing things I love, like writing books and giving presentations to help other addicts learn how they too can recover completely from addiction and alcoholism.
I also decided to write a workbook to help people dealing with addiction and alcoholism to heal completely.
I believe that the current model of recovery in this country needs to change. Many of the drug/alcohol counselors are not well trained and have little background in psychology, pharmacology, or trauma release. Many inexperienced counselors only tell their clients how bad addiction or alcoholism is as though their clients were idiots.
In my presentations, I discuss the link between chemical imbalance (e.g. depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc.), unresolved trauma, and addiction and alcoholism. The success rate of the nation’s rehabs is 1%, which is nothing to brag about.
I love my life today. I had to be my own advocate and do the necessary investigation in order to turn my life around and how hopefully help others to do the same.
I believe it is important to help others overcome the negative repercussions of stigma and ignorance.
