My name is Peter and my sobriety date is August 8, 2013. I started using at a very early age. In high school I was a Track and Cross Country runner and had scholarship offers to colleges. I decided to drink and use during college and gave that all up.
By the age of 23, I was living in my car and addicted to dope. I had tried treatment before but I finally hit rock bottom and decided to reach out for help after realizing I didn’t have to die in my car alone.
I went back to treatment, got a sponsor, and worked the steps. Now I am back in school and scheduled to graduate in December with a degree in Social Work. Today, I am back to running again!
If you are out there using, you need to know that you never have to use again. You do not have to die out there. You are not promised tomorrow, but just for today, you can stay clean…..and tomorrow too!
