Hello, it’s Jose back with an update
You may recall that my dad died when I was only 13, and my life pretty much spun out of control. I abused prescription medications for quite a few years. After losing two of my best friends to drug overdoses, I finally gave it all up so I wouldn’t become a casualty as well. Two and a half years into recovery, my life is so different. I’m gearing up for a new semester in college in January. My goal is to have a great career in the medical field, and I’m on my way to achieving it.
I’m still working at the gym that helped me lose over 100 pounds, and I love it. I got a super surprise a couple weeks ago. The president of the company I’m working for called me personally to congratulate me on losing the weight and keeping it off. He then asked me if I would consider becoming a personal trainer, and he would pay for the certification process. Things just keep getting better! I love my life so much more now that I am sober. All these opportunities are coming my way, and I know they never would have happened if I hadn’t found recovery. I have down days and hard days. They are inevitable no matter who you are, but I am dealing with life one day at a time, and I will keep bouncing back. I have so many good things happening to me that I can focus on.
If you are thinking of getting help, but you are scared, please do it anyway. I am a living testament to the great life you can have when you get sober.
