Kick ‘Em Out!
The staff working at Foundations Recovery Network are my Heroes in Recovery (whether they are individually in recovery or not!). I used to run psychiatric hospitals as a CEO. Even as the CEO, I couldn’t stop treatment teams (who were working with patients in the addiction programs) from discharging patients prematurely. When I would ask “Why?!?,” I’d be told “Well they broke the rules,” “They’re manipulative,” “They’re resistant to treatment,” or “They don’t want help badly enough to change.” So my next question was, “Okay, so where are we sending them? Clearly, if we can’t help them, someone is doing a better job than we are… ” The answer was “nowhere.” We were sending them home, or wherever it was they came from.
Now I am extremely blessed to work with a passionate group of people who meet people “where they are,” at the door with love, compassion and flexibility. Thank God there are integrated treatment providers like Foundations Recovery Network.
