I lost a niece to the disease of addiction in early 2011. At age 29, her heart failed as a result of chronic drug addiction, complicated by her struggle with frequently unmanaged bipolar disorder. There’s very little that can affect a treatment professional more than the loss of someone in their own family, knowing that we have so much to offer if we can just inspire someone to reach for the ropes we throw them. Prior to her death, my niece had given birth to three children that were removed from her at the time of delivery because she was actively using at the time of delivery.
Today, my family (which includes three teenaged girls!) has the joy of keeping my three year old great nephew Dyson about one weekend per month. He is one of those children born during dark times for my niece and our family. He brings us all joy, light and wonder, and I consider him a miracle. Light from tragedy.
To be able to create a successful, growing business out of the daily miracles you all help make happen, also brings me joy, light and wonder. To be able to provide JOBS to so many (and growing) who have struggled with this chronic disease also brings me joy, light and wonder.
Thank you!
