Don’t say, “It will never happen to me!” That’s what I thought. Then on June 21, 2012, I overdosed on heroin. I was found 18+ hours later, unconscious, taking about one breath every three minutes. I had been laying on my left side the whole time; doctors call it compartment syndrome. It happens when the blood is cut off from a particular body part (left arm). Due to that event, I died but was brought back to life five times, and I had to have my left arm amputated. I was in total kidney failure and had to undergo dialysis for three months. I was on life support for about two weeks; they told my mom to make the funeral arrangements. I now suffer from heart damage and drop foot (no movement in my foot)—however, it is improving. I also suffered the loss of my left arm, which really sucks because I was left-handed. Share this post with people you know who are using drugs—it’s not a f***ing game. This disease—YES, DISEASE—not only affects them, but everyone around them. And I do not want their moms to have to go through what my mom did. I can proudly say this disease did not kill me, and today I am in recovery. ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!
