My sobriety date is September 17, 2007. What got me to sobriety was I was in a wreck where I was driving under the influence. I was drinking that night and blacked out and woke up in the hospital finding out that my friend had passed away.
During all the turmoil of grief, court proceedings and spending a year in prison and the remainder of my sentence on probation, I was able to turn my life around.
When I got out of prison, I ended up going to an aftercare program. I worked the program and took it one-day-at-a-time until the next thing you know, I have ten years of sobriety!!
My life has changed tremendously. I am married now with two children and have a great job. I could not ask for anything better. I have to wake myself up and pinch myself everyday!
