- Alcohol
As a recovering alcoholic with seven months of sobriety under my belt, I’ve learned how to live a positive, wonderful life without the need for alcohol. After 15 years of hard drinking, I finally woke up and decided to take control of my life. I checked myself into a detox center and moved myself into a sober living community for three months.
I now live a life where alcohol no longer consumes all of my thoughts. With the help and support of my family, friends, sponsor and God himself, I found the courage to live a life of clarity, faith and positivity. I remind myself daily that just one drink will take away everything that I’ve worked so hard to gain back. I now have a lucrative job, a beautiful condo, healthy friendships and a close bonded family. I find that the best joy of my life is giving back what has been given to me. I love to help other people in recovery and donate my time, money and helping hand whenever needed. Most importantly, I have faith in my higher power.
When I have my anniversary for one year of sobriety in September, I will also be turning 35 years young! What a wonderful life I have to look forward to. It’s a promising future with greatness right in front of me! God is good! Bill W is good! Recovery is good!
Some words to live by:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference!
