A Vision for You

The new year is always a huge time for reflection and a time to set new goals. For myself I don’t get as hung up on the “new year, new you” thing. I figure that everyday I’m just trying to better myself. Some days I fall short. A lot of days I fall short. So I want to try and stay vigilant.

Looking back on the year 2014 I can see areas in which I grew and some that I digressed. I’m trying to use that as a gauge to better my year. Two of my huge goals I set were to run the Boston Marathon, which I did complete, and to get into college, which I did. I tend to get hung up on all the things I want to finish that I don’t even enjoy the time that leads up to it. I look back and see that staying in the moment and enjoying every step that I take is something I do not do. Since I do that even when I complete a task or a goal I am not fully satisfied with myself.

Something that I am doing this year to help keep me motivated and enjoying my journey is a vision board. When this was first suggested to me I thought it was kind of corny, but I said I’d give it a shot anyways. Since starting my vision board I find that it has made it easier for me to see what I have set my sights on. I have a clearer image on what I want for myself and it’s not as overwhelming just stuck in my head.

What I have set on my vision board this year is another marathon. My hope is to keep my body healthy along with my mind. I also am hoping to work on relationships. Even though I have been sober for some time now, and have worked on past issues, it is still a constant battle. My hope is that this year I will work on bettering myself in healthy ways. It is still a constant battle with or without drugs and alcohol.
