Happiness is the biggest positive change in the life of Scott from Palm Springs. He discovered happiness through his journey in recovery from heroin to a clean and sober life today. He has been living in recovery now for six months and is proud of every day he has. The drug he used at the end was heroin and he understands today that he has a disease and plans to do what is needed to live a healthy and happy life with it. He is very proud, that he finally became his true self in recovery.
His turning point was already a while before, but finally six months ago his parents agreed to pay for his treatment and Scott is trying to do anything that is needed to move forward in his sobriety. H really loves the new friendships he made throughout his journey with other sober people in his community. He would love to have a relationship, but knows that he is not yet ready for one, because his sobriety has to come first in his life.
A huge piece of advice he got during his early recovery was simply “Don’t pick up, no matter what” and it helped him a lot throughout this past six months. He also learned that it is necessary to share your feelings often and talk about your struggles and fears to stay in a sustained recovery. He found a place for that in meetings, with his sponsor, his peers in the fellowship and the sober living where he currently lives.
