Many people in recovery tell you, “Never forget the last time you used or drank!” This last time is not a good one for most, and this was true for Kevin. He relapsed after 18 years of living in sobriety. His last night of using drugs was horrible, and he never, ever wants to go back there.
Kevin now has 81 days of sobriety and sees a big change in his life. He experiences love, compassion and tolerance. He has learned to relate to others. He is gay and has always struggled to relate to young straight men. Financial insecurity is still a part of sobriety he is having a problem with, but he knows not to take things too seriously. Kevin can open his heart and has learned how to live life better. He finds it important to listen to others and to share his own thoughts and feelings.
Life gives Kevin lots of reasons to smile, and people give him many reasons to hug them. He is looking forward to rebuilding his life again and staying clean. He is currently in a sober living community to stabilize his recovery before returning to a normal life.
