Brittany is recovering from addiction to pain pills. Her addiction got her into legal trouble, and drug court gave her a chance to get out of this trouble and into recovery. She did not feel ready and did not engage in the program like she was supposed to, but the people responsible for the drug court program did not give up on her.
Her story started like so many other stories of addiction. She was prescribed pain pills for a health problem following her first pregnancy. At the age of 19, she had never had any problems with alcohol or drugs, but this time she went straight from prescription to addiction. When she was out of pain pills she used methamphetamine to stop the cravings, but she always returned to opioids when they were available to her. She stayed in her addiction for eight years before her legal issues forced her to get help.
Brittany has three weeks clean. Her fourth child is just five weeks old and is with her at the treatment center. This time she is happy that she gets the chance to get clean and sober, and she wants to be a good mother for her children.
