Moving Through Fear

Fear is something that you will hear a lot of people in recovery talking about. When I got sober, I was consumed by fear. While I knew that I couldn’t continue on the path that I was on, I was terrified to get sober. I knew that giving up drugs and alcohol would mean a completely new way of life. I would have to learn to stand on my own two feet without using substances as a crutch.

Openness about Recovery

We are all here to break the negative stigma of addiction, and I realized that it begins with me. The more people who are open and talking about recovery, the more we are going to change society’s attitudes about it. So don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid of who you are, where you have been or where you are going. If you are afraid, you don’t know what you may be closing the door on.
