Connecting to a Community of Hope

Heroes In Recovery
| October 20, 2011

Once you choose hope, anything’s possible. | Christopher Reeve

Hope is contagious.

One of the most important parts of recovery is hope. Do you believe that you can get well and stay well? What vision does your family have for the future? Where do your friends fit in? You have hopes, and so do the people you love. Everyone wants to have a beautiful future, and our tomorrow will be defined by our today.

We have a strong belief in the power of the recovery community. The stories we often hear in the news about addiction are negative, with tragic consequences. The stories that don’t make the news are how many DUIs didn’t happen today because former alcoholics decided not to drink; how many clean and sober parents got to spend quality time with their kids today; how many people in recovery from addiction and mental health concerns are living free, healthy lives, having overcome intense personal, relational, emotional and physical battles. Those stories have real power. When we all start telling them, people will start listening– especially people who don’t think they have the strength to recover. But they need to know that they’ll never have to do it alone.

The recovery community is a sounding board for your dreams, a place to share advice and experiences, and a place to be encouraged and encourage others. One of the reasons the Heroes movement got started was because we believed that we could do more together than apart. We believed that one spark of inspiration could build into a flame of passion for the betterment of ourselves and the ones we love.

In short, the Heroes movement is about hope.

Don’t go away today without sharing your story with us or connecting with us on Facebook or Twitter. We want to partner with you in this journey of hope!
