The gift of sobriety has meant a lot to my life in a lot of different ways. It has brought me closer in my relationship to God and in my relationships with other people. I’m more accountable to myself and to others. I don’t miss appointments or miss out on being places where I say I’m going to be because I’m hungover or have decided to go drinking instead. I’m more obedient to God. Overall, I perform better as a person because I’m 100%, which I wasn’t when I was drinking or hungover. Alcohol was taking a lot from me—mentally, physically and spiritually. Being sober has helped me in all of those areas. The fact that I’m able to be sober now is a gift from God, and I’m able to live my life as a better Christian for Him. I’m more the way He wants me to be and I just feel better all around.
