What has recovery done for me? That is a big question. It has given me sobriety and a higher power that I choose to call God. It has also blessed me with the opportunity to go back to school and graduate from college with a certificate for drug and alcohol counseling. It has given me the ability to see my daughters who were adopted when child protective services took them. I have been blessed with great friends and the ability to volunteer with great establishments. My life is not easy but it is far better than I would have ever expected. I get to do things like go to Magic Mountain with my friends and family. I go to special events that I otherwise would not be able to attend if I was still loaded today. I always have to remember that I need to take this one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. No matter what happens, I need to be honest in my everyday living. With the grace of God, I will be celebrating seven years of sobriety in July. Cassandra
