Heroes in Recovery 6k
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity, but in doing it.” | Greg Anderson, author
The Heroes in Recovery 6K is Coming!
Lace up your running (or walking) shoes and get ready to pound the pavement – the Heroes in Recovery movement is taking to the streets!
Sparked by Foundations Recovery Network, Heroes in Recovery is a movement celebrating the recovery journeys of those who have struggled with addiction or mental health concerns. And whether you’re in recovery or you’re just supporting or representing those in recovery, you’re invited to join us for our Heroes in Recovery 6K Run/Walk in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. The race begins at 8 a.m. on September 17, 2011.
And yes, we said 6K. It’s not a typo. We’ve all heard of a 5K, but this race is a little different. The Heroes in Recovery 6K represents pushing yourself just a little bit harder and propelling yourself one step further. It’s a reminder that although you are on a personal journey, we are on the road with you. It’s a celebration of the journey – and each person on it. We are all in this together, and nobody has to take to the road alone.
Forget what you know about traditional 5K race routes. Heroes in Recovery 6K participants will experience a one-of-a-kind race in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. Along the way you can expect to enjoy the scenic views and peaceful sounds of Tennessee’s country roads. (Rumor has it you may even get cheered on by a local pack of alpacas.) After the race, participants and spectators can unwind and explore downtown Leiper’s Fork – a perfect opportunity to enjoy some good ol’ Southern cooking, shopping and entertainment.
