My recovery date is January 5, 2014. I first started looking for help when I could not handle the way I was living anymore. I wasn’t very happy with what I was doing. I knew I had a problem.
It took several months of reaching out for help before I finally stuck to something. I first got clean when I went to treatment for two months. I went back to school after about a year and have been in school ever since. School has given me the opportunity to help other people that are my age that think they might have a problem. That has been the most rewarding part of my life recently.
If you are struggling with addiction issues, please keep reaching out for help. Don’t give up. It took me several times of trying to pick up the phone and putting it back down. I finally found the strength to pick the phone up at 3:00 a.m. one night, and I was lucky that somebody answered when they did. That probably saved my life. So, you never know who is listening and there is always someone out there to help!
