I don’t know, but today seems kind of odd.” These words are spoken at the beginning of an Ice Cube song, “It Was a Good Day,” where he describes a very unordinary day for himself, a day where everything seems to go right. Many times, people in recovery run into this once they make changes in their lives, which helps lead to the types of good days when everything seems to just fall into place.
Continue ReadingI missed the point in many things during my active addiction. Clarity was not on my side. Now during my sober days, things pop into my mind and I get it. Just think how much easier my day to day life would have been if I had gotten it back then. The fact that I missed the point back then makes me feel really good about seeing the point now.
Continue ReadingAs children, many of us collected keepsakes to hold onto the memories that remind us of an important time, event or person in our lives. It could be a toy, a letter from a pen pal, vacation mementos or a picture of family or friends. It was important to have a special place to store our keepsakes, so that when we needed to be reminded of those memories, we could go right to them. I kept mine in one of my Dad’s empty shoeboxes.
